JPG, PNG or WebP โ everything stays in your browser
Why the classic meme format works so well
The "top text / bottom text" layout โ bold white capitals with a black outline โ dates back to the earliest image macros on internet forums, and it stuck around for a simple reason: it is readable on any background, light or dark. The dark outline lifts the letters off the image without hiding it. The top line usually sets up the situation, and the bottom line delivers the punchline.
If your caption runs long, this tool wraps it onto multiple lines and keeps it centered automatically, so there is nothing to measure: type, watch the preview, and tweak on the fly.
The right size for social media and chats
Your meme downloads at the same resolution as the original image, so it pays to start from a picture at least 800 pixels on its shortest side โ that way it won't look pixelated on Instagram, Discord, or in group chats. Use the slider to bump the text up for short one-liners and shrink it for longer sentences: around 10% of the image width is the sweet spot that stays readable even on a phone screen.
