Ideal weight calculator
Enter your height and sex to get a realistic weight range, based on the healthy BMI range and the Lorenz formula.
Why a range instead of a single number?
There is no such thing as one "ideal weight": it depends on frame size, muscle mass, age, and body composition. That's why the result here is a range, built from the BMI interval the WHO considers healthy (18.5 to 24.9): two people of exactly the same height can both be perfectly healthy at weights that differ by 20 pounds or more. The middle value shown comes from the Lorenz formula โ a handy reference point inside the range, not a goal you're supposed to chase.
The Lorenz formula and BMI: what they actually tell you
The Lorenz formula starts from your height in centimeters: for men it subtracts 100, then a quarter of the height above 150 cm; for women it subtracts half instead. BMI divides your weight by your height squared: it's the standard used in population studies, but it can't tell muscle from fat, so it can be misleading for very muscular athletes or for older adults.
