Censoring faces, license plates, and personal data with pixelation

Pixelation replaces each area of the image with a single block of its average color β€” the classic way to hide faces, license plates, addresses, or sensitive data in a screenshot before sharing it. Rule of thumb: the block must be larger than the detail you want to hide. For text, use blocks at least 3–4 times the character height; with blocks that are too small, the writing may still be recoverable. When in doubt, push the slider to the right.

Retro pixel-art effect

With small blocks (4–10 px) the effect turns aesthetic: your photo takes on the look of 8-bit and 16-bit video games, perfect for avatars, covers, and gaming-themed posts. The tool draws the image at a tiny size and then scales it back up with smoothing disabled, so the pixels stay crisp and square even in the downloaded file.
