Why some photos show up sideways or mirrored
Smartphones store a photo's orientation as an EXIF tag instead of actually rotating the pixels — and plenty of programs ignore that tag and display the image lying on its side. Selfies taken with the front camera are often mirrored, and scanned documents can come out upside down. This tool rewrites the pixels in the correct position, so the image looks right everywhere: in older software, in prints, and in documents you upload online.
90-degree rotation with zero quality loss
Rotations in multiples of 90 degrees and flips never resample the image: each pixel is simply moved, so sharpness and dimensions stay exactly the same. The downloaded file keeps the original format (JPG, PNG or WebP); formats the browser can't write back, such as GIF or BMP, are saved as PNG so nothing is lost. You can chain several operations in a row — say, 90° right and then a horizontal flip — and download only when you're done.
